Business is booming in Dorr.
Dorr is becoming a popular spot for new and growing businesses, a trend highlighted Tuesday night, when the Planning Commission approved site plans for a new McDonald’s.
The restaurant will be built on the lot just west of the Leppink’s grocery on 142nd Avenue. Patrons will be able to access the restaurant from the Leppink’s service road, or from the driveway on 142nd Avenue. The driveway was added to the site plan due to the traffic concerns the Planning Commission had last month.
Dan Olson, an engineer with Upstream Design Group, and representing McDonald’s, told TownBroadcast that they would break ground on the new restaurant as soon as they can get all the permits.
The commission also approved the site plans for a Tommy’s Car Wash at the corner of 142nd Avenue and Black Gold Court, just west of the Exxon station. The request was made by Commissioner Jody Schaendorf, who abstained from voting on the request because he owns the Black Gold business.
A self-serve dog wash kiosk also was approved by the commission. The Fresh-N-Clean Pet Wash will be located in the parking lot of DMX Express Transport, on 142nd Avenue. The dog wash will have a filter system that will catch the dog hair so that it does not go into the sewer system.
The site plan for Tool-N-Die, Inc to expand their current building on Dorr Commerce Drive also was approved. Business has been good for Tool-N-Die, and they said they need the additional space and parking to handle all the orders they are getting.
