
A student medical emergency resulted in a lockdown this morning at Wayland High School, but officials insisted, “at no time was there an active threat to students or staff.”
A communication from the district stated, “During the response to that situation, the lockdown button was activated, and not the medical emergency button, which initiated the lockdown protocol.
The official communication also said, “We recognize that a lockdown is concerning for families and causes stress. We are grateful for the calm, appropriate response demonstrated by all, and we appreciate the patience and understanding of our families. We are extremely appreciative of the immediate response by Wayland City and Tribal Police. “
