Richard Nelson Dame, Sr., 65, of Allegan, died Thursday, April 4, at his home.

Born Nov. 4, 1953, in Windsor, Canada, he was the son of the late Nelson Joseph Dame, Sr. and Marilyn Joyce (McBrien) Dame and was the husband of Victoria Leigh (Kleinbrink) Dame. A Hopkins High School graduate, Mr. Dame was retired from Grand Rapids Freight Handlers and recently worked part-time as a Range Safety Officer for Centershot Gun Range in Dorr.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Chad (Janna) Dame, Jennifer (David) Emmons, Richard (Karen) Dame, Jr. and Danielle (Shawn) Gorman; siblings, David (Deb) Dame, Nora (Dave) Johnson, Colleen (Denny) Marhugh, Mary (Bill) Lutke, Nelson (Sonya) Dame, Dan Dame, Dennis (Reynell) Dame and Ed (Sue) Dame; grandchildren, Kurtis, Travis, Gabbie, Garrett, Livia, Sophia, Ethan, Noah, Luke and Lydia; great-grandson, Dawson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Terri Dame.

The family will receive friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 11, and again from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial mass will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Wounded Warrior Project are suggested.
