Richard L. Sevigny, age 90, died Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Richard served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. For many years, Richard worked as a truck driver hauling propane for Petrolane/AmeriGas.\

He enjoyed stock car racing and camping at the various tracks to which they traveled. After retirement, Richard and Orlys spent summers at their property in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where they fished and enjoyed time together in nature.

He also liked to watch and support Notre Dame and the Detroit Lions and Tigers. Most important, he was proud of his family and the legacy he helped build. He loved them dearly, and they loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Orlys Sevigny; children Richard (Kathy Stafford) Sevigny, Renee (Douglas Goodwin) Sevigny, Michael (Karen) Sevigny, Robert (Donna) Sevigny, Thomas (Connie) Sevigny; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; siblings Don Sevigny, Eugene Sevigny, Rose Nichols, Edward Sevigny, Carol Sevigny; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel and Jeanette Sevigny; son, James Sevigny; grandsons Randy Konecny, Chase Sevigny; great-granddaughter, Kaylee Schwartz; brothers Wilfred “Bill” Sevigny and Gerald “Jerry” Sevigny. 

A memorial mass will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 129 Cedar St., Wayland, with visitation from 1 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.

In memory of Richard and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church.
