Robert Eugene Doublestein Jr., 74, of Dorr died under the care of Faith Hospice Saturday May 8.

He was born in Grand Rapids March 16, 1947, to the late Robert E. Sr. and Marguerite Doublestein. Robert and wife Charlene, who preceded him in death, married 1972, a few years after, they had Micah, their only child together. They were married for 47 years before Charlene passed away in 2019.

Robert will be remembered as a loving, selfless, humorous father and husband. He displayed each of these traits all through his life; he was a great father and spouse. Robert always did what he could for others no matter if he was injured or sick himself.

Micah remembers when his father nurtured him, his mother and grandmother back to health when they each needed it most. Robert was willing to give up his comfort if that meant his family was taken care of. In the last years of Robert’s life, he and Micah spent a lot of time together. Micah took on the caretaker role of his father

He is survived by his son, Micah Doublestein, and was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Doublestein; and parents.

Per Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Faith Hospice or the American Lung Association.
