Dennis Herbert Wolff, 69, of Byron Center, formerly of Dorr, died Monday, April 5, at Metro Health Hospital, Wyoming.
Dennis was born in Grand Rapids April 30, 1951, a son of the late Joan (Tysson) and Herbert Wolff. He was raised in the Grand Rapids area and attended Ottawa Hills High School, graduating in 1970.
Dennis married Sandra (Sayen) Wolff in Grand Rapids on April 18, 1975. Dennis and Sandi began their lives together in the Grand Rapids area, actually purchasing the exact home that Dennis grew up in. A short time later they relocated to Dorr, where they raised their family and enjoyed a slow-paced country lifestyle, which afforded Dennis the opportunity to deer hunt in the fall. Everyone who knew Dennis, knew the level of love and commitment he and Sandi shared during their almost 46 years of marriage.
Dennis loved being “home”, especially playing with family in the swimming pool, and spending time with grandchildren, and his dogs. Although he preferred to stay close to home, he did also enjoy an occasional short trip to the Traverse City area or Chicago when time permitted.
During the summer months, Dennis enjoyed spending a warm afternoon fishing the many inland lakes in the West Michigan area, and perhaps a road trip to the big lake to walk along the pier.
He was employed at Steelcase for more than 38 years as a machine operator before retiring in 2011.
Dennis is survived by his wife Sandi, his daughter, Kimberly Wolff, his son, Adam, (Jacci) Wolff, two brothers, Wayne (Barb) Wolff, Bill (Traci) Wolff, four grandchildren Kaleb and Edin Biberovic, and Hunter and Stella Wolff. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Eva Sayen. Brothers in-law, Mike Sayen (Pam), Dave Sayen. Sisters in-law, Sue Hazen (Bob), Nancy (Greg) Sample, Mary (David) DeVries, three aunts and uncles, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service celebrating Dennis’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at the Wayland United Methodist Church.
