Thomas Wilson of Dorr died Wednesday, June 15. He was 76.

Tom spent his childhood years in upstate New York. He developed a passion for public service as a New York firefighter. He moved to Michigan, where he was a graduate of both Hope College and Davenport University. He continued his service as a firefighter and grew a strong interest and love for photography. His favorite visual subjects included trains, ships, and everything related to the firefighting community.

Tom retired from RCT, Inc. after working 45 years in the transportation industry.

Tom was a true gentleman, kind and compassionate. He set a great example of how to be a good person, showing and treating all people with respect and always choosing to do what was right.

Tom is survived by his wife, Janice Wilson; sister, Marcia Wilson; daughters Elizabeth Wilson, Jennifer (Brandon) Flannery, Judi DeVries, Jill Stoddard; son, Kyle Briggs; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Cynthia Wilson; son, Joel Peloquin; son-in-law, Dan DeVries; and his beloved yorkie, Molly.

There will be a memorial service at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 26, until 8 p.m. at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home Dorr Chapel (4330 18th Street). This will include a visitation time from 4 to 6:15 p.m., with a celebration service scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
