
Marcia Roberts died peacefully, Sunday, Sept. 7, surrounded by family at her home in Shelbyville.
She was born on March 18, 1937, in Plainwell, the daughter of Jake and Edna (Woodhouse) Banks. For more than 20 years, she worked for and eventually directed food service for Martin Public Schools. She worked for the school and their summer band camp program until she retired.
Marcia loved cooking, enjoyed sewing and quilting, and spending time with her family. Her home was a frequent stop for many to enjoy coffee and a slice of homemade pie. There was rarely a family gathering that didn’t include her homemade rolls, macaroni and cheese, baked beans and famous sugar cookies.
Surviving are her children; Shelly LaFountain, Sheryl (Gordy) Roberts, Dan (Kim) Roberts and Toni (Steve) Allen; 24 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 65 years, Eugene, daughter Bobbie Jo Roberts and her siblings, Katherine Nichols, Myrna Wood, Jake Banks Jr. Donald “Bill” Banks and Donna Baldwin.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial is planned for 2 p.m. Nov. 8, at the Orangeville Township Hall.
