Thomas Edward Verberg, age 79, of Wayland, died Sunday, May 1.

Tom served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a tank operator. He enjoyed bowling, golf and going to the casino with his brother, Richard. He also enjoyed driving his Corvette and was a member of the Grand Valley Corvette Club. He loved animals and was a magnet for dogs. He rarely missed his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Beverly; daughter, Julie and Timothy Oddy; grandchildren, Alexandria (Lexi) and Jalen Brooks, Alison, and Theo; siblings: Richard Verburg, Nancy and Lee Miller, Diane Martin, Charles and Diane Verburg, Michael and Kristy Verburg, Donna Verburg, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Verburg; sister-in-law, Suzanne Verburg.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m Saturday, May 14, at Community of Christ Church, 4790 Jacob St. SW, Grandville. Burial will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
