A memorial service has been scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 19, for Sheila Rackley of Martin, the postal worker who was killed Jan. 6 while delivering the mail north of Plainwell. She was 55.

She was born Sept, 10, 1964, in Allegan the daughter of Howard and Pricilla (Oisten) Pegg. Sheila was a 1982 Allegan High School graduate. For 11 years she had been a rural mail carrier for the Plainwell Post Office. Sheila loved animals especially her dogs. Most of all she loved spending time with and taking care of her family.

On July 21, 1984, in Allegan she married Jeffrey Rackley who survives.

Also surviving are her children, Tyler, Ashley and Tom Rackley all of Martin; mother, Pricilla Overstreet of Allegan; siblings, Terry Pegg of Allegan and Pam Pegg of Kalamazoo; mother-in-law, Lillian Rackley and many extend family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and step-father, Bruce Overstreet.

Cremation has taken place.

Friends may visit with Sheila’s family starting at 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m.., with celebrant Mary Ann DeVries officiating.

Contributions in memory of Sheila may be made to the Allegan County Animal Shelter.

Watching a phone instead of the road! No alcohol or drugs involved and no skid marks? At what point are we willing to not look at a phone while driving? For what reason - to take an innocent life doing her job? What a baseless society we've become.
