Michael J. Davis, age 71, of Wayland, died Monday, Feb. 2, at Alamo Nursing Home after a battle with cancer. His death tragically followed that of his daughter Teressa, “Cissy,” 45, last month.
Mike was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Madison Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Barb Davis of Wayland; his sons: Mike (Terry) Davis II of Wayland and Dave (Connie) Davis of Caledonia; his grandsons: Benjamin (Brittany) Davis, Matthew Davis, and Norm Porter; his granddaughters: Rashell (Michelle) Bowerman, Tanya (Quinn) Perry, Nicole Porter, and Jenniffer Porter; five great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters: Bill, Arlis, Jim (Kay) Dave (Christina) Johnny (Carolyn) Davis, Pat Fultz and Martha (Keith) Coffman; his sisters-in-law: Esma and Janey Davis and Freda Daggett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his precious little girl Teressa “Cissy” Davis, his parents Charlie and Azel Davis, his brothers: Terry, Charles and Jack Davis and his sister Lillian Butler.
A memorial service for Mike and Cissy will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Green Lake Calvary Church, 608- 145th Avenue, Caledonia, MI, 49316, with Pastor Dan Farnol and Pastor Nate Lowe officiating.
