Michael J. Davis, age 71, of Wayland, died Monday, Feb. 2, at Alamo Nursing Home after a battle with cancer.  His death tragically followed that of his daughter Teressa, “Cissy,” 45, last month.

Mike was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Madison Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years Barb Davis of Wayland; his sons: Mike (Terry) Davis II of Wayland and Dave (Connie) Davis of Caledonia; his grandsons: Benjamin (Brittany) Davis, Matthew Davis, and Norm Porter; his granddaughters: Rashell (Michelle) Bowerman, Tanya (Quinn) Perry, Nicole Porter, and Jenniffer Porter; five great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters: Bill, Arlis, Jim (Kay) Dave (Christina) Johnny (Carolyn) Davis, Pat Fultz and Martha (Keith) Coffman; his sisters-in-law: Esma and Janey Davis and Freda Daggett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his precious little girl Teressa “Cissy” Davis, his parents Charlie and Azel Davis, his brothers: Terry, Charles and Jack Davis and his sister Lillian Butler.

A memorial service for Mike and Cissy will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Green Lake Calvary Church, 608- 145th Avenue, Caledonia, MI, 49316, with Pastor Dan Farnol and Pastor Nate Lowe officiating. Donations in memory of Mike may be made to the Madison Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 5757 Madison Ave., Kentwood, MI, 49548.
