Wayland High School graduate Wilda Fleser died Tuesday, April 28 at the Laurels of Hudsonville. She was 85.

Wilda was born July 20, 1929, in Heppner, Ore., but grew up in Wayland and  was a graduate of Grand Rapids Community College as well. She married Roger Fleser in 1948. He passed away in 1998.

Wilda did clerical work at Reynolds Metals and Gordon Food Service. She also worked as a librarian in the Wyoming school system. In semi-retirement, she worked for Meijer and Visser Family YMCA.

She is survived by three sons Tom, Dan and Jim and two grandchildren, Carly and Hunter. Others include daughters-in-law Lynette Fleser and Cathy Fleser, sister Connie Merbs, along with niece Angie Merbs Breedlove and nephew Bill Merbs.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at First United Methodist Church, 227 Fulton St., Grand Rapids, with a reception following. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m.
