The Wayland Union Middle School spelling bee went eight rounds before Amara Sheffer scored the victory with the winning word “catapults.” She will be moving on to the Allegan County Regional Spelling Bee next month, along with Logan Battenfield, Mackenzie Schwarz and Logan Bush.
