The Leighton Township Fire Department held its annual banquet Saturday evening. Mike Jahnke (right, shown with Fire Chief Matt Weston) was selected Firefighter of the Year of the Year. Weston remarked, “He’s written numerous grants for us, mentor to the new guys, helps with trainings, handles all programming for radios and pagers and installed lights at both stations on his own time. He’s an all-around great asset to Leighton and we’re proud to call him our firefighter of the year.”
