The Milky Way candy bar was invented in 1923 by Frank C. Mars.

These bars were initially thought to be named after the galaxy, but in actuality, was named after a very popular malted milk drink of the time.Brownie layer ingredients:

1 cup melted butter

2 cups sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla

4 large eggs

3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Cheesecake layer ingredients:

16 ounces creamed cheese softened

2/3 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 eggs

2 cups chopped Milky Way candy bars

Instructions:

Brownie layer:

Combine the melted butter with the sugar and vanilla. With a hand or stand mixer, add eggs individually beating well after each addition. Mix in the dry ingredients – cocoa, flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined. Setting aside one cup, adding the rest to a greased 9×13 baking dish.

Cheesecake layer: 

With your mixer, beat the cream cheese and sugar together until smooth adding the vanilla. Beat the eggs in individually well.

Instructions:

Pour the creamed cheese mixture over the brownie batter, spreading evenly. Sprinkling the chopped candy bars pieces over the creamed cheese layer.

To finish up, drop spoonfuls of the remaining brownie mixture on the top and use the back of a large spoon to swirl the mixture over the chopped candy to cover and incorporate the candies. 

Bake in a preheated 350 degrees oven for 45 to 55 minutes. I check by poking a toothpick in it after the 45 minutes mark, and when it comes out clean, it’s done. Cool completely before cutting to serve.

We also like them refrigerated with a scoop of ice cream. Enjoy!
