Moline native Eleanor Elenbaas dies at age 100

Eleanor (Boersma) Elenbaas, age 100, died Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Eleanor was born on a farm in Moline as the second of 11 children (Bill, Eleanor, Bert, Henry, Ralph, Harry, Bertha, Grace, Mart, Ben and Anne). During her high school years, the family moved to Grand Rapids, where she lived for most of her life. She married Jack Elenbaas (deceased 2012) in 1945.

She was the mother of four children, Judy (Dan) Johnson, Marv (deceased 2018), Doug (Gail), Steve (Paula), 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at Zaagman Memorial Chapel and one hour prior to services Monday. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday Jan. 30, at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton SE, Grand Rapids.
