Area realtor Monte Baker is organizing a GoFundMe campaign to benefit David Baker, who in January was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had surgery within 24 hours.

The tumor was the size of a grapefruit,” she said. “He was doing great! Two weeks later, he was back in the hospital with an infection of the brain. Another surgery was needed to clean the infection and remove the skull cap. He spent nine days in ICU trying to get the infection under control.
“There were problems with drainage, and they had to drill another hole in his skull, then go into his spine to drain the infection.
“He has been through so much and has kept his spirits high. Chrystal has been by his side during this whole process. David hasn’t worked for over a month now, and it will be a long time to heal. Chrystal has missed a lot of work being with David all while taking care of a family as well.
“We are setting up this page to help with hospital bills and living expenses. Fortunately David has insurance but his medical bills will still be substantial and with his brain flap removed and hooked to PICC line he won’t be able to work for several months.
Ms. Baker later added, “They took the PICC out after having antibiotics pumped continuously. He is feeling much better and started a new job last week. At least he will get a few months of work before he goes in for another surgery to replace the piece of his skull they had to remove because of the infection.”
