Myrene Koch has been appointed as the new Allegan County Prosecuting Attorney.

“Myrene has served the people of Allegan County as an assistant prosecutor since July of 2002 and has been the chief assistant prosecutor in the office since June of 2017,“ said Circuit Judge Marge Bakker, who made the announcement. “Myrene has demonstrated an outstanding ability to represent the people’s interests in criminal prosecutions before this court and as chief assistant has demonstrated strong administrative abilities that will serve her and the County of Allegan well as prosecutor.”

Ms. Koch graduated from Michigan State University in 1992 and received her juris doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in May 1999. 

She has received special recognition for her volunteer work with South Haven public schools, as well as with the Allegan County Coordinating Council on Domestic and Sexual Violence. Her community involvement includes serving on the board of Safe Harbor Children’s Advocacy Center since 2010. She has also served on the board of directors for Sylvia’s Place Domestic Violence Shelter.

Ms. Koch has been married to Lewis Koch since 1993 and they have four children.

Ms. Koch will begin her duties as prosecutor effective Monday, March 19. The vacancy was created when current prosecutor, Roberts Kengis, was appointed to the Circuit Bench by Governor Rick Snyder. Kengis will assume his duties as Circuit Judge on March 19 as well.
