After five consecutive days of no school last week, the three local districts’s students all returned to the classroom Monday, Jan. 26. But the back to school effort was short lived, as Tuesday all were closed yet again because of cold, snow, ice and poor condition of roads. Many on Tuesday night were speculating whether the trend would continue. Others wondered how many makeup days they would have at the end of May or in early June.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday afternoon posted, “Road Patrols in Allegan County are working multiple accidents and slide-offs along U.S.-131 from the 53-mile marker to the 65-mile marker (Martin Township to Wayland Township) and also I-196 from the 23-mile marker to the 25-mile marker (Casco Township, north of South Haven).
“Roads are icy and snow covered and the wind is not helping, that is creating white-out conditions. Please make sure if you are traveling, you take it slow and have your headlights on so people can see you.”
So much for Global Warming, check that, Climate Change………..
