Norma Cabot, age 89, died Monday, Sept. 9.

Norma was a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed adventure through her many travels from Africa, Galapagos, Svalbard, New Zealand, Solomon Islands and many more. She was an avid bird watcher as well.

Norma graduated from Purdue University in 1950 with a 4.0 grade point average in chemistry and was offered a position at Johns Hopkins Medical School, but turned it down to marry her beloved, Charles Cabot, and raise a family with him. Norma’s philosophy was to choose happiness rather than bitterness.

She will be remembered and missed by her children William Cabot, Thomas (Victoria) Cabot; son-in-law, Willis Ronald Telfare III; daughters-in-law Jennette Cabot, Olenka Hubickyj; grandchildren Alex, Eric, Chase, Clara; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cabot; parents George and Nadine Wenzel; daughter, Jeanne Telfare; son, George Cabot; and her sister, Barbara Halliday.

In memory of Norma and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sierra Club, the National Audubon Society and the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
