candy-adriansonThis seems tsue-joneso be a big year for local candidates to file for township offices under the “No Party Affiliation” banner.

Dorr Township has several NPAs running for township trustee and for township treasurer, and they will talk about themselves and their views Monday evening at the Dorr Township Hall.

A little quieter, but no less interesting, is that two NPA candidates, Candy Adrianson and Jim Lautenschleger will challenge Democrat Chuck Andrysiak and Republican Michelle Harris. And Kathryn Morris is on the ballot as an NPA gainst Democratic Treasurer Sue Jones.

What makes the trustee race more interesting is that Adrianson served Watson Township as supervisor from 2008 to 2012 and she had been a trustee before that. She lost to Pam Brown in the August 2012 Democratic Party primary and again as a write-in in the November general election.

Some observers said they thought Adrianson was unfairly blamed for the scandal in which former Treasurer Stephanie Bogdan was caught taking money from the township coffers and spending it at the Gun Lake Casino.

Andrysiak is the incumbent Democratic trustee and Harris is a Republican who ran a successful write-in campaign with 24 votes in the August primary to get on the ballot. She is seeking to succeed longtime township trustee and supervisor Rod Zeinstra, who decided to retire this year.

Internet searches for information about Kathryn Morris and Lautenschleger turned up no information.
