The Dorr Township Library Board is not at full strength and one new member has stepped down after being elected in the August primary.
Larry Goldin did not take office at the beginning of this year because he declined to take the oath of office, according to Township Clerk Debbie Sewers.
Library Director Natalie Bazan said she and other board members recently agreed to offer the vacant position to a local woman, but she decided against taking it.
The current Library Board includes President Peggy Otto, Vice President Barbara Gibson, Treasurer Sarah Rydman, Secretary Rachel Vote and Trustee Marcia Brock.
Dorr Township Treasurer Jim Martin said the only requirements for Library Board members are a minimum age, residency and taking the ceremonial oath of office.
However, Goldin apparently did not feel comfortable being required to take the oath.
The board’s authorized maximum membership is seven, but Secretary Tara Cornelius-Reece resigned and was succeeded by Vote, and Treasurer Kenneth Huizinga and Trustee Louis Harnish did not seek another term.
So now only five of the seven seats are filled.
Bazan told the Township Board the search will continue for appointments.
