Ovarian cancer takes Elizabeth Laur after 12 years

Elizabeth Linker Laur, age 66, died of ovarian cancer in the early morning hours of May 18 at Faith Hospice Trillium Woods.

Elizabeth graduated from Wayland High School, worked in Las Vegas and Texas and then settled back down in Wayland. She worked as a quality control technician for more than 30 years at Leon Plastics. There she worked with her lifelong best friend, Fran Crespo.

The last 12 years of her life tested and proved what a strong and determined woman she was. Her long battle with ovarian cancer, stage 3c, pushed her to the edge and back. The cancer and chemo caused multiple health issues but when her health situation was bleak, her strength and will to survive showed through.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents Loretta Sweet (Robert Sweet) and her father IJ Linker. She will be missed by her daughter, Brigitte Laur; her brother, Greg Linker; nieces Heidi and Ryan Presley (grandnieces Kelsey and Paige), Erica Linker, and Tammy Little; former husband, Bill Laur; stepson, Jason Laur; and many other relatives and friends. She will also be missed dearly by her fur babies Chip, Biggles (Mom’s chemo kitty), and Myrtle (the turtle).

Services will be postponed until further notice due to Covid-19 concerns. When services have been decided, Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home’s website will update this information.

In honor of Elizabeth and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MIOCA.org).
