
The Leighton Township Board Thursday night approved an ordinance amendment that permits Paris Ridge Estates to expand its residential development from 262 unit lots to 284.
.Developer John Bitely of Green Meadow Holdings told board members the planned unit development (PUD) expansion project would be located on 82.8 acres at Second Street and Warbler Drive on the northeast section of the township.
The action was taken after a public hearing on the request was held. There was no public comment during the hearing.
In other business Thursday evening, the Township Board:
- Adopted two new ordinances, one on rules for short-term rentals and the other on a trailer ordinance. The latter will be submitted to Attorney Cliff Bloom for his review.
- Agreed to replace the light timer in the township hall parking lot with a “more user friendly” unit.
- Noted the Allegan County Road Commission will spend about $80,000 on graveling projects next year for 141st Street from Kalamazoo Avenue to Second Street and on 140th Avenue from Second Street to Patterson Avenue.
- Was told that four building permits were issued in November at an average cost of $390.234 and 34 permits have been issued this year with one more month to go.
