Gerald Richard “Dick” Shepard, 73, of Cobb Lake, died Friday, Feb. 5.

Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was the past commander of AmVets Post #126. He retired from Coca Cola after 33 years of service.

Dick enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing and pontooning on Cobb Lake.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 53 years, Karon; daughter, Jody Roberts; son, Scott (Sherry) Shepard; grandchildren, Samantha (Matt) Rakowski, Jessica Roberts, Xac Shepard, Lauren Shepard, Cody Shepard, Scott Shepard Jr., and Dillon Roberts; great granddaughters, Madyson, Marlee, and Violet; his siblings, Doug (Lorrie), David (Patty), Debbie, Dan (Lynn); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Rick Shepard; son-in-law, Tim Roberts; and his parents, Gerald and Carolyn Shepard.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will hold a celebration of life in the spring at Dick and Karon’s home on Cobb Lake.

Contributions can be made in his memory to Faith Hospice or a charity of one’s choice.
