Persistent dry conditions result in burning bans

Area fire departments continue to warn local residents against burning yard waste, refuse and even camp fire-style as an unusual drought is persistent in creating exceptionally dry conditions. Departments throughout the area still have issued burning bans as a result. For example, Dorr Township Fire Department posted on Facebook: “Effective immediately, all burn permits in Dorr Township have been cancelled. No new burn permits will be approved until significant rainfall has occurred.” Unfortunately, weather forecasts have indicated rain won’t be coming to northeast Allegan County for some time.
