Pet Klips, the dog grooming business at the corner of West Superior and Railroad Street, will either be sold or close, severely reducing the number of such services in the community.
Owner Tonda Genther wrote in a Facebook posting this morning, “We will remain open ’til we close…
“As many have been observing our real estate sign at the shop and I am receiving messages, it is with a heavy heart to let you know, that we made the difficult decision to sell my groom shop Pet Slips… My family and I are making new plans for the last stretch and as bittersweet as it is, I am excited to see what the future holds and look forward to a little more peace.
“Also with this change I will gain a little more time and commitment for myself, time with my own dogs and my family.
“This decision did not come easy and something I have been thinking about for awhile now. While we are young enough to engage in a new adventure, this is a choice attached with many details that we needed to make. Time for a change…
“Hopefully it sells as a grooming salon, but if not, we will definitely sell as a commercial property as well. It would be a very suitable property for many different business ventures as it sits in a prime location…
“It truly is the most rewarding thing I have personally done for myself, so letting it go is a real struggle for me, but I look so forward at the same time to what is ahead of me in the future as well.
“We have had amazing team members come and go and some which have stayed. We have had ups and downs too. We have grown into a place I never imagined it would be. It’s just a feeling that can’t be explained that’s for sure. Pet Klips has always been so much more than just a groom shop to me.
“Of course we can’t forget this is where Displaced Doggs began as well and maybe one day wherever I land, it can be engaged again.
“I am currently training a couple more apprentices to rebuild our staff, as a couple of our groomers just left to begin new journeys as well. So now the girls apprenticing and just starting their grooming careers here will get what they need before the time comes when we sell. I am very confident they will be prepared and fully able to get jobs where they choose and will be valuable assets to any salon.
“Also we will now have all the groomers we need and be fully staffed again too provide quality grooming for all our clients and their pets. So with all this, I want everyone to know we will remain open no matter how long it takes to sell and look forward to seeing you soon.”
