Because a power outage early Wednesday morning the Michigan Staye Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) Winter Festivalat the Wayland High School Fine Arts Center is cancelled.

Wayland Union Schools posted on Facebook: “If you were scheduled to volunteer, you do not need to report. We hope to reschedule this event in the near future.”

Community activist Tonya Lyons posted, “Totally random power outage in the area means that  Wayland schools are closed today and the MSBOA band festival they were supposed to be hosting isn’t going to be able to happen either. So sad for the kids and teachers! Last year’s festival was canceled because of an ice storm.

Wayland High School band director Kelli Tilley Smith posted, “Last year we had an ice storm and festival was canceled. This year, we lost power.  I’m starting the think the universe doesn’t want me to host this event…”

Wayland weather buff and track and cross country coach Raymond Antel said, “4:37 am— Just heard the neighbor’s generator turn on… no power in Wayland and NW Gun Lake.  Power restored: 6:59 a.m.
