Private Hicks Cemetery burial set for Carolyn Taylor

Carolyn K. Taylor of Otsego died Monday, Jan. 4, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was 81.

Born Dec. 5, 1939, in Allegan Township, she was the daughter of James and Laveva (Thaxton) Deaton. Carolyn enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and bowling and had belonged to a senior bowling league.

She loved caring for her rosebushes and watching humming birds and deer.

On October 17, 1959, in Plainwell she married William Taylor who survives. Also surviving are her children, Susan Cowels of Kalamazoo and Robert (Julie) Taylor of Plainwell; grandchildren, Carla (Brian) Maurer of Mattawan, Cory (Skye) Taylor of Martin, Casey (Sammie) Taylor of Hopkins, Eric Branch and Lindsey (Dillion) Stanfill; great-grandchildren, Lilah, Chase, Grady, Emmy, Ethan, Keegan, Gleena, Logan and Lilly; sisters, Nancy (Bob) Fry of Otsego, Pat LaFountain of Allegan along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Larry in 1999 and siblings, Bill, Barb and Betty.

According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place at Hicks Cemetery in Watson Township with Pastor Joe Shaler officiating.

Contributions in memory of Carolyn may be made to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.
