Marshall “Glen” Spears, age 86, died Tuesday, Feb. 2.

He was born on June 20, 1934, in Milton, W. Va., the son of Clarence Spears and Ada Belle (Persinger) Spears.

Glen possessed a strong faith in God and enjoyed worshipping at Calvin CRC, where he also served as custodian for almost 20 years. He was a great cook, a skilled carpenter, and jack of all trades.

He is survived by wife, Norma Spears; children Sandy (Jerry) Flynn, Karen Hunt, Glenn (Glenda Sue) Spears Jr., Pam (Paul) Cosgrove, Cheryl Spears, Jim Spears, Tonya (Todd) Weststrate; grandchildren Matt (Lisa) Leiter, Matt Flynn, Michelle Gunning, Chad (Lisa) Hunt, Michael Spears, Kristina (Joe) Olney, Angela Spears, Brad Cosgrove, Marshall Spears, Ella Palazzolo, Grady Palazzolo, Morgan Weststrate, Mikayla Weststrate, Tom Thurman, Sissy Roberts, Timothy Thurman; 19 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; siblings Larry Spears and Pat Hyson; in-laws Bruce (Ruth) Hansum and Don Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Due to the current health crisis, a private family memorial service will take place. In memory of Glen, and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Family Assistance Program of Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 700 Ethel Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506.
