Jim Coburn died Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was 68.

He was born April 14, 1952, in Plainwell, the son of Mickle and Vina (Vanderpool) Coburn. On Aug. 28, 1996, he married Debra Hoard, who survives.

Jim loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed shotgun sports and was a member of the Gun River Conservation Club and the Barry County Skeet and Trap Club. More than anything he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Also surviving are his children, Cory (Carrie) Coburn, Jeremy Coburn and James (Tammi) Sprau all of Martin; eight grandchildren, Caylee, Karra, Collin, Kaden, Cirsten, Cooper, Clay and Willow; siblings, Larry, Gary, Clint, Evelyn, Garnet, Linda and Dorothy along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Clyde, Carl, Gwen, Charlotte and Carol.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place.

Friends may visit with Jim’s family from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 5, at the Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego where a private family memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, with celebrant Bill Rose officiating.

Burial of ashes will take place at South Martin Cemetery.

In accordance with Covid-19 guidelines a limit of 25 people at a time will be allowed and masks and social distancing will be required.

For those unable to attend the memorial service a live stream will be available.
