Private family service set for Roger Potter

Roger Jay Potter, age 59, died Monday, April 28.

Roger will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, mostly farming and fishing. He spent many years as a farmer, milking cows since he was about 10 years old, and he had a great reputation for how well he baled hay. He also enjoyed gardening, canning, and spending nights in his garage with family and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Florence Potter. He is survived by his loving life partner of 22 years, Melody Sessions; brother, Dan (Amy) Potter; daughter, Jenna Potter (Joey Schloff); stepdaughters Alicia Sessions (Chris Rick) and Erika Sessions; grandchildren Paisley Schloff, Clayton Schloff, plus an additional six step-grandchildren. Roger also will be greatly missed by his longtime friends Jeff Funk, Charles Snyder, Dwayne Wiers, and Ed Cooke.

Visitation with friends and relatives will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Kubiak Cook – Dorr Chapel, 4330 18th St., Dorr. A private family celebration of Roger’s life will commence at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Dorr Chapel.

In honor of Roger and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
