Private graveside service planned for Carl Getty, 87

Carl Franklin Getty, age 87, died Sunday, April 7.

He was a loving husband, devoted family man to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family was his whole life.

Carl graduated from Wayland Union High School in the class of 1954 and served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, both watching and playing sports of all types, and chopping wood. Carl retired from the skilled trades pattern shop at General Motors after a 36-year long career.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, MaryAnn (nee Witherell) Getty; daughter, Sandra (Kris) Niemchick; sons Gregory Getty, Michael (Kim) Getty; grandchildren Gina (Mike) Klinkner, Benjamin Niemchick, Carl Anthony (Ali) Getty, Amber (Phil) Wendecker, Allison (Tyler) Stolicker; great-grandchildren Braxton, Jozy, Elijah, Samual, Kaybree, Dawson, Wyatt, Maverick, Clayton, Rigden; and many extended family and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Rose Getty and brother, Leonard Getty.

A private family graveside service will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Wayland. In memory of Carl and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choosing.
