Jerry Robert McFarland, 84, of Wayland, died Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Jerry served 24 years of active duty in the Armed Forces; four years in the US Navy and 20 years in the US Army. He was a Korean War veteran and served two tours in Vietnam. Throughout his distinguished military career he was stationed in Colorado, Texas, Germany, and France.

Jerry was a dutiful solider, a devoted husband, and loving father and grandfather. He married the love of his life, Deloris Ann Haller, in 1956. They were together 60 years before her passing.

He is survived by his brother, Patrick McFarland; daughters Karen (Fred) Webb, Linda (Mark) Wolowicz, Susan (Todd) Miller, and Sandra Graham; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.

There will be a private service and burial, for family only.

A sad loss for his family and friends, a very sad loss to our nation. A selfless warrior who gave all his nation asked of him and much more.
