Alyce M. Rewa of Dorr died Wednesday, June 10.

Alyce was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Visitation Parish, a community that was family to her, a church that was home. She played an active role in religious education, serving as a catechist and director of religious education. She was a member of the Altar Society, both as member and treasurer. Alyce served as a member of the Building Fund Committee, culminating in the building of St. Mary’s Visitation Community Center.

Alyce had a passion for writing, including work on the local newspaper, community publications, the Dorr Centennial project, as well as poetry and even an unpublished novel of which she was very proud.

Alyce enjoyed traveling with Brenner Tours and working for them. The Mystery Tours were a special pleasure for her. She worked for Bil-Mar and she tutored reading at Sycamore Elementary School. She even helped at North Dorr General Store.

Alyce always kept busy! Being the mother of 13 children led to an active life of sports, camping, fishing, school projects, and outdoor activities. She spent hours helping to keep score and transport the Sycamore Seals Little League teams to the games, and even to the annual trip to Tiger Stadium. She was Jack’s assistant coach.

Alyce loved to listen to her children and grandchildren sing – especially in church or around a campfire.

Alyce is survived by her children William (Barbara) Rewa, Julia (Jerrold) Bement, Lois (Dennis) Fein, Gerald (Laura) Rewa, Edward (Lisa) Rewa, Anita (Rodney) Kerber, Stanley (Sallie) Rewa, Barbara (Tom) Peck, Eric (Stacy) Rewa, Linda (David) Cole, Denise (James) Marlink, Anthony (Kathy) Rewa, and Michael (Heather) Rewa, 35 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Alyce was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Jack Rewa and her parents, William and Emma Postma.

Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to St. Mary’s Visitation Parish. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a private funeral mass for immediate family was held at St. Mary’s Visitation Parish, with Father Christopher Derda presiding.
