We’ve all been there.  No plan, no list, no hints, no idea.  Cold shopping.  Especially for the lady in your life.  And if you do have what you consider a good idea of what she wants, it is usually wrong.  And if it is wrong, don’t forget the gift receipt (even include it with your gift), even if you think your idea is great.

If you have little kids, they give you a list a mile long.  You tell them to circle what they “really want” and half comes back circled.  Then you get specific and say pick three.  It’s never just three.  When they get older they get specific, except everything starts at $100 to $200 range and it is still three gifts minimum.

I have come to the conclusion the best gift is a gift card to their favorite store or the gift of cash.  With cash you can never go wrong.  Nobody returns cash to the giver, stating it is not an appropriate gift.  The family will chastise you for giving cash, but nobody gives it back. Amazingly good, the cash idea works.

The best of the Christmas movies

I’ve written about this before in the past, but many people still have not viewed it.  The best of the Christmas movies — “It’s a Wonderful Life.”  I like “Christmas Story,” ” Miracle on 34th Street,” “Polar Express,” but nothing compares with the drama and scope of “It’s a Wonderful Life.”  It was made in 1946 and is filmed in black and white (original version), and was directed by the great Frank Capra.  The story line is easy for follow and has a message for everyone.

About the President Trump impeachment farce

I was having such a good time not mentioning the obvious, but I must comment.  Trump will not be convicted by the Senate when and after the House votes for impeachment.  So for those of you wanting to get rid of President Trump, your dream is about to end.  Trump 2020 is on the way.  There’s nobody on the Democrat side to come close.

Christmas parting thoughts

Let us think and pray for those serving in the military.  Their time away from family during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons is especially hard.  There are also people within our community serving us during these seasons — thank you!
