As Americans observed the passing Wednesday of perhaps its most famous preacher, the Rev. Billy Graham, at age 99, WOOD-TV Channel 8 noted it was in possession of a poster from 1947 advertising Graham’s appearance in Grand Rapids. Tom Miller, a longtime resident of Moline, did not specify the exact year, but produced this poster promoting “America’s Preacher” in the early 1940s for a Christian revival at Moline Baptist Church, then known as Moline Congregational Church. John Bouterse added, “It was in 1941, according to this source and I was told that he stayed with a local family during this time, whose son was also a Wheaton College student.”
