Ricky Kimber, age 69, died Thursday, Aug. 3.
Ricky was a hard working man who ensured that his family was well cared for. He made a living as a supervisor in various manufacturing industries while making some wonderful friends and having a little fun along the way.
After retiring, he took up a job driving truck and making deliveries.
Ricky is remembered for his signature mustache and generous, selfless heart. He loved his family above all else, especially his best friend and wife, Elaine. His smile and witty jokes could warm up any stranger.
When he wasn’t enjoying time with his family, there was a good chance that he was on a golf course (having all his practice and dedication pay off and led to a hole-in-one at Diamond Springs a few years back); taking his beloved dog, Gracie, for a ride; enjoying the sunshine (at home or in the tropics; it didn’t matter where, as long as there was loads of sun); dropping a line in stream or an ocean (fishing or catching, it didn’t matter); he just loved the game of chance); or watching his lifelong favorite teams: anything and everything his grandkids played, the Dallas Cowboys, and the University of Michigan.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elaine Kimber; children Angela (Randy) Champagne, Chad (Jennifer) Kimber; grandchildren Jaxson and Viviana Kimber, Hudson and Hayden Champagne; sister, Diana (Pete) Fowler; sisters-in-law Pat (Don) Robrahn and Clarilla Funk; uncle, Don Kimber; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Von Ins and Dennis Kimber; and sister, Tammy Lou Kimber.
Celebration of Ricky’s life will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m., at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th St., Dorr.
