Safe Harbor to plant pinwheels throughout Allegan County

As April is Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month, Safe Harbor Children’s Advocacy Center plans to expand its annual pinwheel garden all April, all across Allegan County.

Partners, schools, residents, businesses and churches throughout the county – are encouraged to help plant awareness by planting their own pinwheel garden, wherever they may be in the county. The garden serves as a hopeful symbol in raising awareness for child abuse prevention.

“By planting a Pinwheel Garden in your own yard for your clients and neighbors to see, we hope it sparks conversations and can help organically spread awareness about Child Abuse Prevention Month,” said Safe Harbor Executive Director Lori Antkoviak. “Your own Pinwheel Garden signifies that you are willing to help raise awareness about child abuse and neglect.”

Two local organizations – Mr. Electric of Allegan, Ottawa and Van Buren Counties and Beautify Pullman – have already agreed to plant gardens on their properties.

“We are always seeking ways to help promote positivity in Allegan County,” said Patty Conway, of Beautify Pullman. “Pullman Town Square will be able to plant many Pinwheels to show our support and help raise awareness.”

A longtime supporter of Safe Harbor, Mr. Electric of Allegan, Ottawa and Van Buren Counties, also will plant its own Pinwheel Garden on its grounds along Lincoln Road in Allegan.

Safe Harbor also plans to plant Pinwheel Gardens in each of its 18th Annual Lifeline Gala sponsors’ properties within Allegan County.
