Old Uccello's BldgPassing motorists and customers may have noticed recent changes at the Uccello’s Restaurant on West Superior Street in Wayland.

For one thing, the name of the Italian eatery is changing to Salvino’s Ristorante.

Owners Salvatore Uccello and Silvana Vitale indicate they are branching out and opening tIMG_0480heir own collection of new restaurants under the new name. Silvana also owns Vitale’s of Bella Vista and Salvatore owns Flo’s on Plainfield Avenue in Grand Rapids.

The first Salvino’s opened last March in Plainwell.

Salvino’s of Wayland Manager Kristyn Daniel said, “Salvino’s will offer the same great food, including new menu items… The interior is being redesigned, as well as the exterior with a fresh, modern look.”

Uccello’s opened at its current location a dozen years ago, and at that time there were other eateries in the chain in Grand Rapids and Caledonia. It began as a Joe’s Way pizzeria near downtown Wayland.

Daniel added that another new twist is that gift cards and coupons can be used at both Salvino’s locations, in Wayland and Plainwell.

“We also are starting a new Salvinos Loyalty program to earn points toward free meals, etc.,” Daniel said. “We are looking forward to sharing this exciting time with all of our regulars and looking forward to meeting new guests.”
