Sandra Mae (Green) Shanahan, formerly of Dorr, died Tuesday, April 25. She was 72.
Sandra was born in Cadillac Sept. 16, 1950. She lived in Luther with her parents and sisters until they moved to Ludington when she was about 5 years old. She attended Ludington Public Schools, graduating in 1969. She was a waitress, then she met and married her husband on Jan. 18, 1975.
She moved to Dorr, where she was a homemaker and stay at home mom for 25 years. Micheal and Sandra built their new home in Hastings and moved in January 1999. She was employed at the Middleville Shell from 1999 to 2001. In 2001 she worked for Thornapple Manor until she retired in December 2015.
Since retirement, she has enjoyed church, Circle of Joy, and Bible studies at Leighton Church. Micheal and Sandra Attended many live theaters and shows. They also liked to go camping with friends and took several bus tours. She loved shopping at the E&S Store in Shipshewana.
She is survived by her husband, Micheal J. Shanahan; children: Chris (Corrie) Shanahan, Anthony (Missy) Shanahan, Timothy (Rebecca) Shanahan, Tina (Scott) Triick, Andrew (Amanda) Shanahan; grandchildren: Halaynea Shanahan, Hope Shanahan, Kalie Triick, Mark Shanahan, Devin Triick, Gwenevieve Triick, Alexander Triick, Keagan Shanahan, Bruce Shanahan, Larkin Shanahan, Jordan Shanahan; sister, Pat Green; brothers: Gary (Cheryl) Green, Greg Green; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Gary and Ruth Sawyer; her parents: Earl and Lorna Green; and her twin sisters: Karen Green and Sharon Green. She also had a baby she miscarried early in her pregnancy.
Sandra’s family will receive friends ofrom 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 30, at the Beeler-Gores Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, at Leighton Church, where her funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 1. Private burial will take place in Hooker Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Sandra has requested that donations be made to Leighton Church or The 700 Club.
