A semi-tractor trailer crash at the 100th Street exit bridge caused the northbound U.S.-131 expressway to be shut down Wednesday afternoon and motorists were asked to take a detour at the Dorr-Moline exit and take old 131 (10th Street, Division) north. The Wayland, Hopkins and Martin school districts sent students home early and canceled all evening activities because of the inclement weather.

EDITOR’S NOTE: The report that Hopkins dismissed early was in error. However, all evening activities were indeed canceled. And all three announced they would be closed Thursday, Jan. 6.
