A semi-truck struck a bridge on 146th Avenue over the U.S.-131 expressway in Dorr Township this afternoon, closing off a section of the southbound lane of the freeway.
Michigan Department of Transportation officials said the semi crashed into the 146th Avenue overpass at about 2:30 p.m., not only damaging the bridge, but also leaving debris on the road, the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office said.
Southbound lanes and all ramps were shut down from 76th Street to 146th Avenue. A public service announcement was issued later in the day that “South bound US 131 will be shut down indefinitely at 76th Street until the 146th Avenue bridge can be fixed enough to be deemed safe to travel under. The bridge will be closed indefinitely until total repair can take place.”
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office reported there were no injuries.
