Arlene Kathryn (Schaendorf) Blank, 76, of Hopkins died Tuesday at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Arlene was born Nov. 7, 1942, in Dorr, the daughter of the late Floyd and Agnes (Wycoff) Schaendorf and the wife of Frank Blank. Arlene had a big heart and truly enjoyed knitting numerous scarves and hats that she provided to charity organizations. In her spare time, she loved to garden and was known to be an avid watcher of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.

Arlene is survived by her husband of 50 years, Frank; her son, John Blank and wife Marcy Hazen, and her daughter, Karyn Blank; three grandchildren, Zachary J. Blank, Logan F. Blank and Briana B. Cronk; her brothers, William Schaendorf and Robert (Linda) Schaendorf; along with many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Schaendorf and her sister-in-law, Norma Schaendorf.

Friends may meet with the family at Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 18, with the rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Services will be held at Gorden’s Hopkins Chapel at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19.  Burial to follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Township.

Memorial donations may be made in Arlene’s name to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation.
