Ruthmary Jean Lance, age 75, died Monday, Aug. 2.

Ruth enjoyed many years running the Christian bookstore in Michigan. She worked as a realtor. Ruth and Dearl moved to Texas after his second retirement and continued their sailing hobby. After 18 years, Ruth and Dearl returned to Michigan to be near family, spending their summers in Michigan while still spending winters in Texas.

After retirement in Texas, she enjoyed volunteering at Project Hope and many other places. Most of all, Ruth’s faith was strong and she enjoyed her family.

She is survived by her children, Darren (Lisa) Lance and Steven (Chelsea) Lance; granddaughters Stephanie and Jaidyn; great-grandchildren Frances and Farres; brother, Kenneth Folkema; mother-in-law, Dorothy Lance; brothers-in-law Tom (Karen) Lance and Gary (Rene) Lance; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Dearl Lance.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 7, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 4125 18th St., Dorr, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Winchester Cemetery. Pastor David Rockhoff will be officiating.

In honor of Ruth, contributions may be made to Project Hope and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
