Jerome “Jerry” Bowerman age 68 of Dorr, died Wednesday, Feb. 6.

Jerry’s gruff exterior held a huge heart, that loved his family dearly and would do anything for his family and friends. He worked at Spartan Stores for 39 years.  He was an avid reader, enjoyed travel with family, cook outs and Natty Light.  He returned to school to get his diploma at the age of 52.

His trip to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation forever changed his life.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathy Brown Bowerman; their children, Melissa Jaworowicz (Juan Gonzales), Eric Bowerman, Andrea (Daniel) Rucker, David Hagans; grandchildren Vince (Erika) Jaworowicz, Raven (Manuel) Lopez-Cano, Catalea Rucker, Jesse Gonzales, Mercedes Gonzales, Juan III (Beth) Gonzales; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Gary (Julie) Bowerman, Ginny Falkoff, Venessa (Bob) Jenkins and many special family and friends.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturda at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 – 18th St., Dorr. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb, 10, at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior to service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Re-Member PO Box 505 Pine Ridge, SD 57770 Supporting the Oglala Lakota People living on Pine Ridge Reservation.
