Service is Wednesday evening for Norm Bredeweg, 87

Norman James Bredeweg, age 87, a longtime resident of Green Lake, died Thursday, Dec. 7.

Norm served his country in the National Guard for six years and worked at General Motors 36th Street Fischer Body plant for more than 40 years. He had a love for fast-pitch softball and could often be found at the Moline ball diamond.

For the past 25 years Norm and Evelyn enjoyed spending their winters in Sarasota, Florida.

Norm is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn; his daughters, Rhonda Evans, Jackie (Kevin) Keizer, and Barb Kuiper; grandchildren, Jamie (Jim) Marshall, Ben (Melodie) Keizer, Shannon Keizer, Staci (Dan) VanSingel, Matthew Kuiper; great grandchildren, Grace, Simone, Vivian Marshall, with another expected in April; his brothers, Harvey (Polly) Bredeweg, Russell (Virginia) Bredeweg; sister-in-law, Pam (Louie) Waayenberg; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Audrey (John) Trumbull, and brother-in-law, Wayne Rozema.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12,  at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St., Cutlerville, and from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday from 6 – 6:45 p.m. prior to the service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Green Lake Calvary Church, 608 – 145th Ave., with Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Interment will be in Hooker Cemetery, Leighton Township.
