
James Robert Clemons, 66, of Martin, died Monday, July 14, at home.
James, or “Jim” as he was affectionately known, was born on June 9, 1959, in Garfield Heights, Ohio to parents, Robert and Carol Clemons. He was the second of three children: sister, Mary; and brother, Greg.
After his family moved to Michigan, he attended the East Kentwood school system and graduated there in 1977. After receiving his associate’s degree from Ferris State University, Jim held a myriad of jobs but his love for the trucking industry was the greatest. For the past 20 years, his passion was particularly in freight brokerage where most recently he held the position of terminal manager for R&R Express.
He was married to his wife, Shirlene Carol Clemons, for 39 years-a partnership marked by their love, resilience, and unwavering commitment to each other. Jim was also fond of his many lifetime canine companions and held a special place in his heart for Coco, his miniature Pomeranian.
He is survived by his children: son, Alex (Paige) Clemons; stepchildren: Heather (fiancé, Will) Anderson, Kurt Anderson (Kristen); grandchildren: Gordon, Emma; sister, Mary (Peter) VanFleet; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his step-son, Kurt Anderson; parents: Robert and Carol Clemons; and brother, Greg Clemons.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26,at MKD Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood.
