Former Dorr Township Fire Chief Harold Lee Schumaker, died Monday, Feb. 24, at the age of 76.

His legacy of service, bravery, and selflessness will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born June 10, 1949, in Grand Rapids, Harold Lee was a proud patriot who answered the call to serve his nation as a soldier in the Vietnam War. His courage and dedication to his fellow soldiers exemplified the best of what it means to serve. After returning home, he continued to dedicate his life to helping others.

He served with honor as the fire chief of Dorr Fire Department, protecting lives and leading with unwavering commitment. His dedication extended beyond firefighting—he was an EMT, always ready to provide care in times of crisis.

His compassion led him to serve in the Red Cross, offering aid to those in need, and as a proud member of the American Legion, advocating for his fellow veterans.

Harold was a devoted family man. He shared a beautiful life of 55 years with his loving wife, Robin, who stood by his side through every adventure. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and strong values.

He is survived by his wife, Robin Schumaker; children Michael Schumaker (Jenene) and Stacy Breimayer (Greg); grandchildren Jacob (Liz), Cade (Katrina), Jager, Kayla, Kennedi, Melinda (Jonathon), Drew, Piper, Margo, and Zach; great-grandchildren James, Edmond, Emri, and Ezra; many sisters, sisters-in-law, brothers, brothers-in-law, dear friends, and those whose lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin; grandson, Colton; sister, Gloria; and parents Harold and Mariam Schumaker.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th St., Dorr,. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 159 131st Avenue, Wayland, with a time of visitation one hour prior.
