Eugene “Gene” Halas, age 85 of Dorr, died Friday, Aug. 2.

Gene and Dee were the former owners of the Royal Knight (Hillards Corner Bar). Gene took pride in his home, yard and his family.  Playing “I buy it” and time in Las Vegas were very special to Gene.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores Halas (Miklusicak) their children, Kathryn (Joe) Rybiski, Lisa (Jeff) Jareo, Cindy (Marc) Cook, John (Jana) Halas, Dave (Rita) Halas; grandchildren, Heather, Michael, Hannah, Zac Rybiski, Jimmy, Joey, Douglas Mitchell, Geoffrey, Marshal Gabala, Kyle, Dan, Katie, Rachel Campbell, Hayley, Jill, Isabella, Edward Halas, Sarah, Jacqueline Halas; great grandchildren, Jimmy Jr. Dougie, Beau, Lucas, Summer, Roman, Rion, Angelo, Noelle, Mia and his sister Angeline Serwatowski and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Visitation with family, friends, and well-wishers to remember and celebrate Gene’s life will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Kubiak Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th Ave Dorr. Rosary service from 4:30 to 5 pm Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1871 136th Ave, Dorr, with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with Fr. Derda Celebrant.  Interment will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
